I have often read, a sledgehammer is the best thing in killing zombies. Sure, zombies are one-hit with it, but it fails me many times. While it could be my incompetence looking out for the dmg-ration due to stamina, sometimes it just lags and I don't hit the head, but the shoulders. Then the zombie strikes back. DAMNI have noticed when a spiked Club is used continously (left mouse pressed), the zombies may get their animation for hitting back, but don't do any damage. My thought was: 'Yeah, must be the difference between a tool and a weapon.' , but as many people are preffering the sledgehammer, as unsure I am now.

XDIs there something I am missing with the sledgehammer, beside not having the skill to always hit the head? Originally posted by:Durability matters? It takes one strip of metal to repair 10 hitpoints to both of them equaly, right?Well, I will try to aim slightly above the head, thanks for that hint.Well, a Sledgehammer has 500 durability while the Spiked Club has only 200. If you don't have anything to repair them with, you get 2.5x the use out of the Sledgehammer before it breaks. (Unless it wastes more durability per hit than the Spiked Club))The Sledgehammer, unlike the Spiked Club, is also a tool specialy good for concrete blocks, stone blocks and boulders.See more details on the 2 weapons here:Personally I think, as a Weapon, both of those are much of a muchness as you either prefer to hit hard and slow or a little weaker but faster. As a Tool the Sledgehammer clearly wins over the Spiked Club.Maintenance. Well, if you use the Sledgehammer as both a tool and weapon you will have to fix it more often then you have to fix the Spiked Club and with 500 durability it will take up to 50 Metal Strips each time. From a crafting perspective you need only 3 Iron Ingots to craft the Sledgehammer while you need 4 for the Spiked Club.I personally prefer using it as a tool in my backpack but as a Weapon I use the Spiked Club, as I prefer faster hits.

I also find it much better when moving/dodging through Hordes due to it's fast speed you always get a shot of quickly before dodging away again, while with a Sledgehammer I find the time it takes to land a hit leaves you open to attack for to long as you move around between a tight group of Zombies. In the end.each to their own as I think you benefit from both as a Weapon, depending on your play-style but I would always recommend to have a Sledgehammer in your bag as a great tool:).
